Bruno and Brigitte Widmer decided to produce only wines of the highest quality. What began as a hobby then, has grown steadily over the past 40 years to become one of the most important wineries in Tuscany. Brancaia loves and deeply respects the traditions of the past, but at the same time is not afraid to imagine new and modern approaches and organic viticulture has always been central for Brancaia.

The flagship wine for Casa Brancaia perfectly embodies the winery's unmistakable identity and winemaking vision, based on an uncompromising commitment to quality and respect for nature.
Since its debut in 1988, IL BLU has been the result of a constant quest for absolute perfection. It is pressed from only the best grapes hand-selected from vineyards in the Chianti region.

With fine tannins and a soft, full finish, IL BLU is a full-bodied wine that impresses with its complexity and elegance.
Over the past 30 years, IL BLU has not only become a symbol of Brancaia, but has gained recognition all over the world. For many wine lovers it has long been considered a classic and is regularly praised by wine critics around the world.
Like its unmistakable label, one of the hallmarks of the winery, this wine displays the same characteristics: modern, elegant and timeless.

Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva Bossona
Vino Nobile Riserva Bossona is one of the highest expressions of the Montepulciano DOCG. Its grapes come from the vineyard of the same name, one of the most suitable, planted by Caterina’s grandfather, Alibrando, in 1961. The wine became a Riserva in 1999, with long ageing in wood and in the bottle. Without a doubt it is one of the estate’s flagship wines, a symbol of the elegance and grace of Sangiovese in Montepulciano. The yields are very low (about 40 quintals per hectare) and the wine is bottled with the label Bossona Riserva only in the best vintages. The soil is of Pliocene origin, dating back 2.5-5 million years. It is rich in tuff, skeleton and fossils, which are not only strongly draining, but also give the wine structure and minerality. The Bossona vineyard is one of the sunniest areas of Montepulciano and its favourable exposure allows for excellent ripening of the grapes. The complex composition of the soil is perfect for Sangiovese, and the constant ventilation ensures that the grapes are healthy.
