Scansano - Toscana IGT

Intense and lively ruby. Enveloping and alive on the nose, slightly balsamic, with notes of vanilla, cassis, tobacco, mint and black cherry. Taste composed and taut, dense tannins very well integrated. Final of excellent length.

Perfect to drink now, improves with time up to 15 years

The grapes for this unique wine, made from 100% Sangiovese, are exclusively grown on a special hill slope on Poggio Nibbiale. They are handpicked and post-selected prior to vinification. Tommaso Poggio Nibbiale is perfect to match Matured cheese and Red meats. With this wine, Poggio Nibbiale intends to develop the full potential of the indigenous Sangiovese grapes. Consequently, the pure terroir of Poggio Nibbiale – characterized by the close Tyrrhenian sea – emerges most prominently within the Tommaso. The wine ages for 24 months in oak wood barrels of the first and second passage. With barren elegance, balanced acidity, and soft tannins it presents the character and uniqueness of this classic Italian grape variety. The story of Poggio Nibbiale is a special one, which starts far away, in Germany… The Buchheim family had always dreamed of having a vineyard in Tuscany. Their long-cherished wish came true when the Poggio Nibbiale winery was founded in 1998. Their dream of growing wine in the impressive scenery of southern Tuscany became a reality. In the following years they began cultivating 11 hectares of land, created a modern wine cellar and restored the medieval 13th century cellar under the church of San Giovanni Battista in Scansano. Most of the estate is still governed by nature, the Mediterranean maquis with its almost impenetrable vegetation, old cork oaks, genista in full bloom and wild olive trees. The vineyards of Poggio Nibbiale are located in the Maremma hills between Scansano and Magliano in Tuscany, 300 metres above the Tyrrhenian Sea with a magnificent view of the Island of Giglio, Elba, Montecristo and the Monte Argentario peninsula. From the beginning, they decided on organic viticulture and abstained from agricultural practices that mainly aim at high yields. For them, it is important to endow the wines with aromatic depth, refinement and complexity.

After the order we prepare it in 24-48 hours and shipping within Europe usually takes 3 to 5 days if all products are available.

If a product is listed in the cart as “Available on backorder” the timing increases by 48h because we have to receive it from the manufacturer itself.

Our priority is to pack and ship the products as safely as possible. Wine and oil bottles are shipped with special cardboard protections, there will be no breakages.

All cold cuts and cheeses are vacuum sealed. In summer we also use dry ice and coolers to keep products fresh and their quality intact.
