Chianti Classico Castello di Monsanto is certainly among the best Chianti wines to be found. Produced from the estate's youngest vineyards, the Chianti Classico Annata combines the readiness and lightheartedness of the sip with the depth that Monsanto's soils give its wines.
Castello di Monsanto
There are two places at Castello di Monsanto that capture every visitor for the charm and the magic that is perceived: the Poggio’s hill and the historic cellar. Being able to transmit at least a tenth of the emotions you experience visiting the Monsanto winery is very difficult. The aromas, the echoes, the silences, the layers of noble molds make it a unique place that deserves at least one visit. The company has its origin from here. So from a climb on the Poggio and from a descent into the cellar, the idea of making a Cru in Chianti Classico was born for the first time. It was 1962 when the first 6,000 bottles of the Chianti Classico Riserva Il Poggio were produced. Of the 72 hectares planted with vineyards, between 260 and 310 meters s.l.m., 56 ha are in Sangiovese, the vine in which the company has deeply believed from the beginning. The Sangiovese clones present in the vineyards come from a mass selection of vines found in the vineyard Il Poggio, “the mother” of all the vineyards of Monsanto. In a small percentage are then present the two historical vines of the Chianti Classico vine: Canaiolo and Colorino.

Colombaio di Santa Chiara turned to viticulture in 2002, when on the initiative of Alessio, the youngest of the three brothers, he decided to become part of the wonderful and complex world of wine. Alessio had started studying enology and the passion had involved him so much that he wanted to put his studies to good use.
Vernaccia di San Gimignano
White wine from San gimignano, the Vernaccia grape is the most important DOCG of a Tuscan white wine.
A great white wine, from a single vineyard where the characteristics of the local grape par excellence, Vernaccia, emerge clearly and distinctly. Although pleasant when young, it often surprises for its ability to age, evolving notes, both olfactory and tasting, complex and mineral. It is not by chance that it is one of the very few white wines produced also in the reserved type. This Vernaccia di San Gimignano wine enhances many gastronomic combinations. Find its natural place in the Mediterranean cuisine in which extra virgin olive oil dominates. Excellent with pasta dishes with white sauces, rice salads, and pasta salads. Surprising is with the ribollita and all its variants that are found in Tuscany. Extraordinary with fish dishes prepared in any way: baked, fried, grilled or baked, as well as raw fish. Vibrant amber colour. The nose is bursting with dried fruit, honey, caramel and candied fruit. On the palate it is broad and enveloping, leaving a sensation of chestnut flour and a long, pleasant finish.

Neither too dry nor too sweet. Produced in strict accordance with tradition, but with Malvasia Bianca and a small amount of Trebbiano grapes dried out in an aired area and not on “cannicci” (special wicker surfaces). And then in half-barriques with 20 to 30 year old deposits (“madri”). There’s never enough.
